"Absolutely unbelievable": Jack Grealish blown away by Man Utd star who made 6 recoveries vs Aston Villa
Manchester City star Jack Grealish has praised Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes following his standout performance against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Red Devils returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over the Villans at Old Trafford. Fernandes was the key catalyst behind the result, providing assists for United’s first two goals.
The Portugal international delivered a sublime cross from a corner for Casemiro’s opening goal with a trademark header. Villa managed to pull level soon after through Ross Barkley.
Matheus Cunha put the Red Devils back into the lead in the 71st minute on the counter-attack. The Brazilian scored a brilliant goal after a wonderful through ball from Fernandes.
Benjamin Sesko made it 3-1 in the 81st minute after coming off the bench.
Fernandes was undoubtedly the best player. He bagged his 15th and 16th assists of the Premier League season, breaking David Beckham’s club record in the competition (15 assists) set in 1999/2000.
Grealish, who is currently on a season-long loan at Everton from Man City, was watching Fernandes in action yesterday. He was certainly impressed and praised the midfielder on Instagram stories.
He wrote: ‘Bruno is absolutely unbelievable footballer man’.

Aside from his two assists, Fernandes managed 71 touches in the game with a passing accuracy of 87 percent. He made six recoveries and won two ground duels alongside a solitary tackle.
The midfielder has been by far the best-performing player in the English top-flight in 2026. His return to the number 10 position under interim manager Michael Carrick has brought the best of him.
Fernandes is undoubtedly a leading contender for the PFA Player of the Year award. He may not be on the title-winning side, but he has had a significant impact on United’s points tally this campaign.
The Portuguese’s goal contributions (seven goals and 16 assists) have directly helped United pick up 26 points, almost half of the club’s tally of 54 this season.
He is only four assists shy of Thierry Henry’s and Kevin De Bruyne’s Premier League assist record of 20 for a season. Fernandes will have his sights on not only matching but breaking the feat too.
