Roberto Carlos sends message to Man Utd star who won 100% aerials vs Aston Villa

0 2

Manchester United returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Red Devils suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss to Newcastle United on the road earlier this month.

United needed to provide a strong response against the Villans and did exactly so with a 3-1 win in front of the club’s faithful.

Casemiro has been one of United’s best performers since the turn of the year, and he scored yet another goal from a set-piece.

Bruno Fernandes delivered a perfect corner from the right flank for the Brazilian to open the scoring with a trademark header.

Aston Villa pulled level after the hour mark, but United still came on top after two more goals from Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko.

Shortly after the game, Casemiro took to Instagram to express his delight.

He posted several pictures from the victory with the caption: “Proud of this team, proud of our fans !! Come on United.”

Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos was one of those to respond. The 52-year-old lauded the midfielder’s performance with several fire emojis.

Casemiro has already announced his departure from the Red Devils when his contract expires at the end of the campaign.

Despite this, the 34-year-old has continued to perform at a high level. This is the joint-highest scoring season of his career.

With another eight league matches left, the veteran star has the opportunity to increase his goal tally for the Red Devils.

Aside from his goal yesterday, Casemiro was brilliant in several other facets against Unai Emery’s side.

The former Real Madrid man won 100 percent of his aerial duels (3/3) alongside three recoveries and three clearances.

His passing efficiency was on the lower side at 79 percent, but he made up for the same with multiple key forward passes.

The extended break between the Newcastle and Villa games proved effective for Casemiro, and he looked fit and firing.

United had a brilliant weekend with Chelsea, Liverpool and Villa dropping valuable points in the Champions League race.

The club are currently third in the league with a three-point lead over Villa. They are five and six points ahead of Liverpool and Chelsea respectively.

Casemiro has been a key figure in the heart of the midfield alongside Kobbie Mainoo since Michael Carrick took interim charge.

The Brazil international will be aiming to leave United on a high note by helping them qualify for the Champions League next term.
