Troy Deeney says Antonin Kinsky made third Tottenham mistake after he left the pitch
Troy Deeney was not a fan of what Tottenham keeper Antonin Kinsky did when Igor Tudor hauled him off against Atletico Madrid.
Igor Tudor’s controversial call to start Antonin Kinsky over Guglielmo Vicario went horribly wrong, with the 22-year-old being taken off after just 17 minutes on the back of two poor errors.
The Czech goalkeeper was in tears as he walked off the pitch and went straight into the dressing room, with some of his teammates rushing behind the youngster to console him.
Tudor has come under criticism for not even acknowledging Kinsky as he went off, but a pundit has now questioned the shot-stopper’s actions.
Troy Deeney questions what Antonin Kinsky did after Tottenham substitution
The former Slavia Prague man has waited almost five months to start a game for the Lilywhites, and he would not have imagined in his worst nightmares just how poorly the outing would go.
However, Deeney believes that rather than heading straight down the tunnel, Kinsky should have accepted Tudor’s decision and taken a seat on the Spurs bench.
The Watford legend told CBS Sports: “We have all been subbed when a player gets sent off, and you’re the one who has to come off. You sit next to your team, and you ride it out together.
“He is having a poor time and got dragged, and he is the one who made the mistakes, not the manager, no one else, he made them. You have to sit with your team, two of the players try to console him.”
Deeney shoots a warning to Spurs players
The 37-year-old knows a thing or two about the pressures of a relegation battle and what it takes to survive.
He warned the Spurs players that they are in the trenches and that they have no time to feel sorry for themselves at the moment.
Deeney added about Tottenham’s current predicament: “They are in a situation as a team and as a group that are in the trenches. You don’t have time to feel sorry for yourself, you don’t have time to gather your thoughts.
“They are all in this. Do you feel sorry for him but it is the real world. You can’t have people going ‘don’t worry’ it is right here and right now and I thought it encapsulates where Spurs are right now.”
