Tottenham striker finally recovers from back issue and chest infection to join Spurs training
Alasdair Gold has revealed that one Tottenham youngster had a recent setback in his recovery, but things are now looking a lot more positive.
Tottenham fans were not too happy that Conor Gallagher and Souza were the only players signed in January, especially given that the club was in the middle of an injury crisis.
While Spurs may not have added to their first-team forward line, the North London club did welcome the arrival of one young striker, whom they signed last year.
Spurs signed Mason Melia from St Patrick’s Athletic for £1.6m plus add-ons back in February of 2025, and he has now linked up with the Lilywhites after turning 18.
Mason Melia was spotted in Tottenham training on Monday
It was reported that Melia was dealing with a back issue when he arrived at Spurs and had to recover from that before he could start training.
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has now revealed that the teenager also picked up a chest infection after his move to London, which further delayed his return.
However, Melia was pictured training on the pitches at Hotspur Way this Monday as he steps up his recovery, and the journalist states that he is hoping to join in full training soon.
Could Spurs have another young gem on their hands?
Gold adds in this latest report that there are high hopes for the young forward at Hotspur Way, as he arrives in North London after posting some incredible numbers in Irish football.
In fact, reports have suggested that Tottenham had to fend off interest from many clubs across Europe to secure Melia’s services.
It remains to be seen if the 18-year-old can fulfil his potential in North London, but it appears that Spurs may have yet another gem on their hands.
