He’s been a really interesting player for me this season. Tactically he’s absolutely brilliant, never gets caught out, always in the right position, clearly knows exactly what the manager wants him to do - took the captain’s armband for a while so he’s trusted and seen as a leader. He’s a warrior - never injured - there’s so much to like
BUT
when he plays in central midfield he looks way off the technical level required - even in the Solis ‘disrupt the opposition’ mould he doesn’t do enough. At right back he never stops running, but when it comes to his delivery his crossing is almost always awful - floaty, wafty balls that invariably lead to nothing.
Given his ability to fit into to multiple positions, and the trust the manager has in him, I’m sure he will stay around and stay a valuable player for us, but I wonder if next season he might not be seen as a regular starter
