Re: Vicente
NatTandyHughBlue2newblueMeadeyAzzaLooked great initially.
Seems to have gone backwards and is now struggling and seems to have lost confidence in his ability to beat a man. Whether thats instuctions, or he's just not good enough only more time will tell.
This … looked very exciting initially
This? He’s been instructed not to beat people? Horse manure.
Look at clips of how he played for Alaves, he literally scored against Real Madrid Mid December.
He hasn’t lost his ability - he’s been instructed to do different things to what he was at Alaves.
You think he’s been instructed not to take people on? That’s pretty silly.
There’s a solid chance he has, yes. We’d rather pass around people than try to get past them with pace or ability.
It’s an American football phrase but “ball security”, it’s less risky (retaining possession wise) to keep the ball securely near your person than it is to put distance between you and the ball to try to beat a man.
It's not just an American Football trait. It's been around football since the dawn of time that there are a good number of managers who would prefer their players to take as little risk on the ball as possible.
He didn't say it was only an American football trait.
