Tottenham in three-horse race to land Premier League forward with 10 G/A - report
Tottenham Hotspur face competition from two of the biggest clubs on the continent in their pursuit of a German international winger.
The wide areas are arguably where Spurs are weakest at the moment, with the club deciding to sell Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace in January but failing to replace him within the same transfer window.
In fact, it was reported during the January window that Tottenham were monitoring a whole host of top-class wide players.
Having failed to get any of them in the winter, it would be expected that the Lilywhites look to prioritise reinforcing the flanks in the summer.
Tottenham face competition from two clubs for Kevin Schade
During the mid-season transfer window, a number of sources suggested that Spurs were plotting a move for Brentford’s Kevin Schade.
According to a report from Bild, Tottenham’s interest in Schade has not gone away.
The North Londoners continue to hold an interest in the German international, who has scored seven times and registered three assists for the Bees this term.
However, they face competition from their London rivals, Chelsea, for the winger, while Bayern Munich are also closely monitoring the 24-year-old.
Chelsea may have an advantage over Spurs in the race for Schade
The report reveals that the former Freiburg man is represented by Ali Barat, who also oversees Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, who is incidentally on loan at Bayern this term.
That could potentially give the Blues the upper hand over the Lilywhites in the race for Schade’s signature.
Additionally, Chelsea are still very much in the race for Champions League qualification while Tottenham appear likely to miss out on all European football next season.
