Woking 3-1 Tamworth FC

Enterprise National League

Laithwaite Community Stadium

7th March 2026

Back at home, Woking earned their first victory under interim managers Craig Ross, Jake Hyde and Dale Gorman, with three goals confirming all the points for the Cards.

In three changes to the starting eleven, Tunji Akinola and Joe Gbode’s suspensions saw them miss out, whilst Timmy Akinola was fit enough only for the bench.

Not fit enough for the squad, Louis Flower continues treatment following his muscle injury sustained against Marine, while Josh Kelly continues a lengthy absence as he recovers from a broken foot.

A fast start from the Cards saw them have the better of the opening chances, firstly with a fourth-minute back-post header from Andrews that had to be collected up by Jasbir Singh in Tamworth’s net.

There again, Singh denied an acrobatic effort from Beautyman in the seventh minute, whilst Ward, moments later, attempted from range, searching for the bottom right corner, with Singh reacting once again.

Woking took the lead in the 16th minute, after a delivery was headed back into the goalmouth, where Sanderson controlled before taking aim, slotting into the bottom left corner to net his third in two games.

The closest the Cards then came to a second before the break was with a 36th-minute counterattack, which, somehow, saw Tamworth block the initial effort, with Andrews’ follow-up from outside the area saved by Singh.

Half-Time: Woking 1-0 Tamworth

The second half got underway with free-kicks at both ends, firstly with a 50th-minute effort, struck from just outside the box, directed straight at Jaaskelainen. Moments later, a free-kick in a similar position for Woking was struck by Andrews, but the deflection wasn’t enough to direct the ball away from Singh.

It didn’t take long for the Cards to double their advantage, with an excellent delivery from Andrews in the 55th minute being hit first-time at the back post by the arriving O’Brien.

Sanderson almost netted his second of the afternoon shortly after, as he headed Ward’s delivery narrowly over the bar in the 61st minute. Andrews was the next to go close, as he let fly in the 64th minute, but his close-range effort fell wide of the left post.

Tamworth reduced their deficit in the 69th minute, with an effort smashed into the roof of the net from the goalmouth by Daniel Creaney. Moments later, Oli Lynch found himself through on goal, forcing an excellent save from Jaaskelainen, with a dive to his left seeing him get a strong glove to the close-range effort.

Almost causing problems from a long throw once again, Thomas Tonks’ 80th-minute launch saw a close-range strike direct marginally wide of the left post, but Woking’s third shortly after placed points out of reach for the visitors.

It was Ward who put the game to bed in the 85th minute, after he did excellently well to hold possession in the penalty area, before he left Singh no chance with his strike.

A lengthy stoppage time period saw a milestone 50th appearance for Hinds, as well as Pennant making his debut for the club, but, despite the twelve additional minutes, the Lambs couldn’t trouble Jaaskelainen, with the following full-time whistle confirming home victory for the Cards.

Woking: Jaaskelainen, Drewe, Richards, Okoli, Odusina, Andrews, Beautyman (C) (Hinds 90+1’), O’Brien (Turner 84’), Ward (Pennant 90+7’), Syla (Timmy 90+7’), Sanderson.
