Match Report: Salisbury

0 0

This game was in contrast to the near constant goal mouth action as the Stones thumped Enfield Town 8-0 in the week but equally it was no surprise that Salisbury announced that their man of the match was William Buse in the Whites goal.

With four minutes gone, Jamie Yila played a nice ball out to Jephte Tanga on the left. Tanga’s low shot across goal beat Buse but went inches wide of the far post.

There was then little to note until the 30th minute. Yila was brought down as he rounded Buse. Buse didn’t receive a card and got down to his right to deny Faal from the resultant penalty.

Not long after the second half had got underway, Richard McIntyre found George Penn with a fine diagonal ball. Penn’s shot didn’t miss by much.

Play soon moved to the other end. Riley Court delivered a dangerous low ball which took a deflection and came off Buse for a corner.

Nathan Harness then sent a long kick downfield. Faal gave chase and was bundled over by Dominic Revan who received a yellow card for the offence.

Shortly after this, Yila got in down the right. He drilled the ball into the six yard box and it deflected off Max Jolliffe before going inches wide. The Maidstone forward was involved again shortly after this when he did well to hold onto the ball under pressure and Buse blocked his resultant effort.

George Fowler then found himself with a shooting opportunity. The angle was tight though and Buse made a comfortable stop.

It was then Tanga’s turn to beat the offside trap but once again, Buse made the block. Just as it was beginning to look like Maidstone were never going to make a breakthrough, they got the winner on 83 minutes. Tanga slipped the ball into substitute Sesay who finished from close range.
