Gray Eager To Build On Feel-Good Factor

Hibernian Head Coach David Gray is looking forward to our trip to Den’s Park this weekend and is keen to build on our positive run of form.

The Hibees face Dundee, hoping to make it three wins on the spin after victories over St Mirren (2-0) and Celtic (2-1) in recent weeks.

Our win over Celtic was our first victory at Parkhead in over 16 years and Gray is hoping that result can be a springboard for further success between now and the end of the season.

“It was a brilliant win last weekend,” Gray told Hibs TV.

“It's something that's eluded this club for a long time. So you need to use that confidence, that feel-good factor, knowing that we went toe-to-toe with Celtic – the champions last season – and we came away with the win, which is great.

“It shows that we are capable of doing it, but it takes a complete performance. I know I sound like a broken record saying that all the time, but that doesn't make the Dundee game any easier tomorrow.

“We fully expect a real tough game again tomorrow and we need to be at our very best to go and win the game.”

Dundee currently sit ninth in the William Hill Premiership and have enjoyed a much-improved run of form in the second half of the campaign.

Gray is expecting another difficult challenge at Den’s Park against Steven Pressley’s side who come into this one off the back of an impressive 3-2 victory away at Aberdeen.

I know he (Steven Pressley) spoke a lot about new players coming in and the squad will look different by the time the window closes - it certainly does now. He's had two windows now, and I think they're a very different side to what they were at the start of the season.

“They are very dangerous, they've got a lot of pace in their team, a lot of 1v1 threats, and they've had a few really good results themselves. So I think we are expecting a really tough game –  it always is when you go up there.

“But the biggest thing for me, I say it all the time, is making sure that we try and get this momentum going and we build on that result last weekend. That's back-to-back wins and now we need to try and catch Motherwell as quickly as we can.

“That's the challenge before the split, we’ve got five games to go and we need to try to accumulate as many points as we can.”

Gray also provided a positive team news update – admitting the squad is getting healthier with a few new faces returning to training.

“Spirits are high in training, as you would expect, and the group's getting healthier as well. We’ve had a couple of the boys come back into the training group this week who have been out for a period of time.

“Both Chris Cadden and Joe Newell fully trained all week, and then we had Jordan Obita and Grant Hanley, who took part in training for the first time in a while. So the group's definitely getting healthier, which is always good.”
