'I am sure': Dalot makes bold prediction about £66.3m Man Utd summer signing in red-hot form
Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has delivered glowing praise for rising striker Benjamin Sesko.
Dalot has been among the senior figures helping Sesko acclimatise to life in Manchester following his high-profile move from RB Leipzig last summer.
The Red Devils splashed an initial fee of £66.3 million to land one of the best emerging strikers in the world.
That faith has already been rewarded, with Sesko producing eight goals and one assist in 24 appearances across all competitions in his debut season in England.
More recently, he has embraced the role of an impact substitute, striking three decisive goals from the bench under head coach Michael Carrick.
Dalot revealed that the 22-year-old is mentally strong, a non-negotiable trait for any player hoping to thrive under the Old Trafford spotlight.
The Portugal international told Sky Sports: “Benjamin Sesko has a good mentality. He already knows that he needs to work really hard to be at this level.
“You can feel when a player goes to the bench, what type of profile he is. How does he react? Even after scoring goal, he goes to the bench again next game, how does he react?
“These are the characteristics of big players. I am very happy because we need players with this type of mentality, not just starting games. I am sure he will play plenty of games.”
This is not the first time that the fans have heard of Sesko’s strong work ethic.
Club legend Rio Ferdinand recently revealed that the Slovenian is often among the first to arrive at training and the last to leave.
Leading the line for Manchester United remains one of the most demanding roles in world football.
Despite showing encouraging link-up play and tactical intelligence, Sesko has not escaped criticism from sections of the punditry.
What many overlook is that he is still refining his craft and deserves patience rather than premature judgement at just 22.
His 2026 form has been nothing short of electric, with five goals in his last six appearances.
Despite all the noise around him, he is averaging a remarkable 1.65 goals per 90 minutes since the turn of the year.
His Premier League rivals like Joao Pedro and Viktor Gyokeres are way behind him in this metric.
Without a doubt, Sesko has a big future ahead of him.
