CCS soccer roundup: Crystal nets hat trick; Mitty, Del Mar, Christopher, Carlmont, SHC, TKA, Menlo to play for titles

Wednesday’s semifinals
No. 2 Watsonville 2, No. 3 Homestead 1
No. 1 Archbishop Mitty 3, No. 4 Harbor 0
Mitty will face Watsonville for the title after an easy win over Harbor, while local school Homestead wasn’t so lucky on the other side of the bracket. Times and locations for Saturday’s championship games will be determined on Thursday, CCS commissioner Dave Grissom told the Bay Area News Group Wednesday night.
Mitty has yet to concede a goal in the postseason.
Division III
Wednesday’s semifinals
No. 3 Del Mar 3, No. 7 Monterey 0
No. 5 Christopher 2, No. 1 Menlo School 0
Christopher (14-2-4) got a pair of goals from Avery Montejano in the 70th and 75th minutes to take down top seed Menlo and reach the title game. The Cougars will take on Del Mar (13-6-3), which snagged its own shutout win at home against Monterey.
Division IV
Wednesday’s semifinals
No. 2 Aptos 1, No. 3 Sacred Heart Cathedral 0
No. 4 Carlmont 1, No. 1 Prospect 0
Carlmont, which began the D-IV tournament with a perfectly symmetrical 6-6-6 record, will play for a section championship after knocking off top seed Prospect on the road. The Scots (8-6-6) are the Bay Area’s lone representative after SHC saw its season ended by Santa Cruz-area Aptos.
Division V
Wednesday’s semifinals
No. 2 Soledad 3, No. 3 El Camino 2
Soledad (11-2-3) scored first in the 20th, 29th and 35th minutes to take an early 3-0 lead and hold on for a close win to reach the championship round.
El Camino (19-1-1) fought back with goals in the 38th and 60th minutes, but the visitors couldn’t find a late equalizer and took the long trip back home to South San Francisco empty-handed.
Jesus Ortiz had two goals for the home team, and Jason Rico added one. Ortiz and Daniel Magana had assists, and Abraham Zavala preserved Soledad’s lead with nine saves.
No. 1 Crystal 3, No. 4 Branham 1
Forward Dante Martin had a hat trick to lead Crystal to a win at home with assists from Lucas Shotts, Ben Fair and Jimmy Naylor.
Crystal (17-2-2) led 2-0 early and 2-1 at halftime after Michael Murphy scored for Branham (8-6-8). Martin scored his third goal with five minutes remaining to seal the victory.
Girls soccer
Division II
Wednesday’s semifinals
No. 3 Salinas 4, No. 7 Menlo-Atherton 1
It was a good start for Menlo-Atherton (10-6-5), which quickly scored the game’s first goal in the second minute and held that lead into the second half.
But things began to unravel when Salinas’ Morgan Retterer scored in the 56th minute, then Kayden Aguilera scored two goals in the 69th and 71st minutes. Salinas’ Kate Nunes scored in the 75th to seal the game for the home team.
Fynlee Devine had seven saves to help Salinas hold onto its big lead. Jenifer Molina had a pair of assists for Salinas, with Ella Uribe and Praisia Lowe each adding one.
No. 4 Sacred Heart Cathedral 1, No. 1 Woodside 0
A free kick by Jamison Gette in the 25th minute made the difference as SHC (14-7-1) knocked off Woodside to set up a chance to play Salinas for the section title. Jemma Schwind had six saves to keep a clean sheet for SHC, while Giuliana Perez had four saves for Woodside (12-6-3).
Division III
Wednesday’s semifinals
No. 2 The King’s Academy 2, No. 3 Monterey 1
Clementine Xiong scored both goals for TKA (11-2-7) in the second half, setting the tone as the Knights took care of business at home. Savi Sassone assisted on Xiong’s first goal, and Ashley Luong had the helper on goal No. 2. Addi Bartell had eight saves to deny Monterey a chance to equalize.
TKA will face top seed Aptos, which took down Sequoia 3-1 in the other semifinal.
Division IV
Wednesday’s semifinals
No. 3 Crystal 2, No. 2 Hollister 1
Crystal (12-3-5) got a pair of goals from Veronica Morse deBrier – one in each half – to hold off Hollister in Hillsborough.
Clara Toscani assisted in the 43rd minute and Ariya Prassad set up the goal in the 70th. Mira Apparao had four saves for Crystal.
No. 5 Menlo School 1, No. 1 Aragon 0
Menlo sophomore Parker Sunwoo took a corner kick from senior Josie Lee and sent it into the net in the 31st minute to secure the game-winner for the Knights in San Mateo. Senior Bianca Putanec made three saves – one late to preserve the win – for the shutout.
Division V
Wednesday’s semifinals
No. 3 Nueva 1, No. 2 Monta Vista 1 (Nueva wins PKs 11-10)
No. 4 Watsonville 1, No. 1 Terra Nova 0
Nueva will be the Bay Area’s representative in the D-V title game after winning a thrilling extended penalty shootout in Cupertino. Top seed Terra Nova wasn’t so lucky in Pacifica.
