Man United £44.1m star makes bold decision on future – not what fans want to hear
Andre Onana is keen to re-establish himself as Manchester United’s first-choice goalkeeper upon returning from his loan spell at Trabzonspor, according to The Guardian.
Onana joined United for £44.1 million in the summer of 2023 but proved unreliable, making several high-profile errors.
He lost his position to Altay Bayindir this season, and that forced him to make a loan move to Trabzonspor.
Onana has fared better with the Black Sea Storm, helping them mount a title challenge, though they currently trail leaders Galatasaray by seven points.
The Cameronian has kept four clean sheets and is averaging 2.9 saves per game. He is one of only four goalkeepers to register an assist in the Super Lig.
Meanwhile, talkSPORT had earlier claimed that United have no plans to reintegrate Onana into the squad and want to sell him.
The Red Devils signed Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp last summer, and the Belgian has established himself as the club’s first choice.
Lammens produced another brilliant display in the 1-0 victory at Everton, showing once again that he is an upgrade on Onana and Altay Bayindir.
The 23-year-old has prevented 5.5 goals in the Premier League this term — the highest of any goalkeeper since making his debut in the competition.
Given Lammens impressive form, it is unsurprising that Man United are ready to sanction Onana’s exit.
Academy graduate Radek Vitek, who has impressed on loan at Bristol City, could challenge Lammens for first choice next season.
