Hooligan fetishists
There is a podcast that talks about various bits of football history called it was what it was or something like that. They’re currently running a series on football hooliganism. The first one featured Cass Pennant and was, you know, the usual shit you’d expect from him.
The second one is a bit more interesting delving much deeper into history. Villa were particularly despicable in the 1890s and the peakies were mentioned in the papers in 1900 for their loutish sweary behaviour at West Brom. It’s not clear whether these peakies were West Brom fans or not although it was mentioned they were from Birmingham.
Also interesting that the white horse final wasn’t as benign as you might suppose, all fecking sorts was going on.
Anyway, worth a listen if you like that sort of thing
