Video: Mikey Moore scores dramatic Rangers equaliser that shows what Tottenham are missing
Tottenham fans must be pining for the return of Mikey Moore, after the youngster scored a crucial goal for Rangers this weekend.
The decision to loan out Mikey Moore last summer raised some eyebrows at the time, and the fact Spurs are low on wingers now makes it all the more egregious.
Moore has earned rave reviews at Rangers of late, with his ‘fearless’ displays under Danny Rohl catching the eye up in Scotland.
Now, the teenager has added to his goal tally this season with another neat finish this weekend, to rescue a point for his team and add another string to his own bow.
Mikey Moore’s latest goal will please Tottenham fans
With Rangers trailing 2-0 away at Livingston on Sunday evening, it took a dramatic fightback for the SPL side to salvage a draw and keep up their pursuit of Hearts at the top of the table.
A goal from Emmanuel Fernandez after 81 minutes kickstarted the comeback but it was Moore who popped up with the all-important leveller with just under 88 minutes on the clock.
James Tavernier had the ball out on the right side of the box and sent in a teasing cross, and Moore, lurking in the middle, was able to flick the ball on with his head and into the back of the net to send the travelling fans into a frenzy.
It’s an unusual goal for Moore, a player better associated with tricky footwork and clever finishes with his feet than being someone who scores headers regularly.
Still, it’s clear he is developing well at Rangers and that can only be good news for Spurs.
Spurs have to utilise Mikey Moore next season
That’s now five goals and three assists for Mikey Moore in 36 games this season for Rangers. Moore has been in great form lately, and Spurs must surely be watching on and anticipating the kind of impact he can have with the Lilywhites next term.
While it is thought Moore is keen to stay at Rangers for another year, but Tottenham cannot let that happen. For too long this club has shipped out its brightest youngsters on loan, only to end up not actually using their talents themselves and missing the boat entirely.
Moore is a high-impact, high-potential player who deserves a chance to shine at his boyhood club, not to be passed around loan moves until we forget about him entirely.
A fresh start is needed at Spurs in 2026/27, and Mikey Moore should be at the heart of that.
