Carrick will be delighted: Fresh injury update emerges on £25m Man Utd star
Manchester United have received a fresh positive update on the injury of Patrick Dorgu.
Dorgu suffered a hamstring injury in the dramatic 3-2 victory over Arsenal last month.
It was reported that the Denmark international could be out for ten weeks.
According to reliable insider Sully Talkz, Dorgu is making good progress in his recovery from injury and is on track with the set rehabilitation plan but still needs time.
The 21-year-old played prominently as a left wing-back under former head coach Ruben Amorim.
He often found himself in good attacking positions but lacked the ability to play a quality final pass.
The major weakness in his game was his lack of positional awareness in defence.
Even at left wing-back, Dorgu showed glimpses of his talent. He was strong in duels and unfazed by the physicality of the Premier League.
Carrick unleashed him in the left-wing position in a 4-2-3-1 formation, bringing the best out of the youngster by giving him more freedom to attack.
Dorgu proved to be an explosive game-changer for United by scoring goals against Man City and Arsenal.
The £25 million signing is expected to make his return in April. It is good to hear that his recovery is on track as he could play an important role in United’s final push to secure Champions League qualification.
Bryan Mbeumo, Mason Mount and Matheus Cunha could play at left-wing but they all prefer to drift inside rather than providing width. Dorgu has the ability to stretch defence by staying wide and deliver crosses.
