Manchester United will travel to the Hill Dickinson Stadium to face Everton in the Premier League on Monday evening.

Ahead of the pivotal away clash, United head coach Michael Carrick has revealed the team news in today’s press conference.

He said (via ManUtd.com): “Yeah Mason is getting closer. I think we’ve been patient, so we don’t want to push anything.

“We want him back and he can have a big impact. He’s getting closer which is good for us.

“Matta is a little bit working towards it. He’s a bit behind Mason, so we’re just trying to work with him to progress him.”

Matthijs de Ligt last featured on November 30 before being sidelined due to back problems.

He was expected to make a return last month but endured a setback. It was revealed recently that he has successfully avoided going under the knife and may come back next month.

Mason Mount has missed the last three league games due to a knock.

Carrick has confirmed that the £55 million star is now getting closer to making his return.

Patrick Dorgu suffered a hamstring injury in the thrilling 3-2 victory over Arsenal. He may not return to action before the start of April.

Carrick has brought stability to the sinking Man United ship. His side has collected 13 points out of a possible 15.

The Red Devils are currently placed fourth in the league table. With Chelsea and Liverpool right behind, United cannot rest on their laurels.

Despite an early red card, Everton defeated United in the reverse fixture.

The Old Trafford outfit must ensure they take revenge and further boost their chances of securing UEFA Champions League football for next season.
