Matlock Town sign Rio Canoville on loan from Derby County

Matlock Town are delighted to announce the signing of highly-rated defender Rio Canoville on a one month loan from Derby County.

Canoville joins the Gladiators after progressing through the ranks at Pride Park.

He made four appearances for the Rams’ Under-18s during the 2023/24 campaign after standing out at Under-16 level.

In 2024/25, Canoville established himself as a regular in Derby’s Under-18s side, clocking up consistent minutes while also stepping up to feature on several occasions for the Under-21s in Premier League 2.

Canoville arrives at the Proctor Cars Stadium eager to gain valuable senior experience as he continues his development.
