Man Utd preparing to watch 25yo Juventus star, £26m deal could be agreed - report

Manchester United are planning to monitor Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu during Saturday’s Serie A game against Inter Milan on the road, according to Tuttosport.

The 25-year-old joined the Bianconeri on a season-long loan from AC Milan in 2024 before signing on a permanent basis last summer. He has been a key player in the starting XI.

Despite this, the Frenchman has been linked with a possible summer departure, and Tuttosport claim that two United officials will be in attendance to monitor him against Inter.

Juventus, on the other hand, are reportedly trying to sort out a new deal. His current contract expires in June 2029, and the Bianconeri plan to extend his stay until at least 2030.

Kalulu’s versatility could be behind United’s interest

The Frenchman started the season under former manager Igor Tudor. He operated from a central defensive or right wing-back position for the Turin heavyweights.

Under the current boss Luciano Spalletti, he has been a permanent feature at right-back. Overall, the 25-year-old has bagged two goals and five assists from 34 appearances.

He has also excelled with other key attributes. Kalulu has a passing accuracy of 89 percent in Serie A, averaging two tackles, two clearances and five recoveries per game.

Despite operating in a more attacking role, he has also won more than 50 percent of his duels. Kalulu’s ability to play in multiple defensive positions could be behind United’s interest.

Juventus are currently fourth in the Italian top-flight, but they are only goal difference ahead of Roma.

Back in January, Calciomercato claimed that Kalulu could be sold for around £26 million, having been signed for around £17m last summer.

Juventus could be persuaded to sanction his sale for such an amount, particularly if they don’t qualify for the Champions League next season.
