Boro sign Fonguck
Wesley makes the switch to the Saunders Transport Community Stadium ahead of the final few months of the Enterprise National League South season.
The Lambeth-born midfielder started his youth career with Crystal Palace, before turning out for Croydon and then joining Barnet as a second-year scholar in 2014/15.
Fonguck went on to make 121 appearances for The Bees, breaking into the First Team during their time in League Two. He scored 12 times during an eight-year spell with the north London outfit and also spent time on loan with Hendon and Hampton & Richmond Borough.
Wesley has two England C caps to his name, starting under Paul Fairclough in a 1-0 victory over Estonia U23 on his debut in an International Friendly back in September 2018.
Upon departing from The Hive, Fonguck then joined Kevin Maher’s Southend United in summer 2022, eventually leaving The Shrimpers after 73 appearances and five goals from midfield, to sign for Ebbsfleet United in July 2024.
In January 2025, he took up the opportunity to play in the United States with USL Championship club Monterey Bay on an 11-month loan deal.
Now back in England, he reunites with former team-mate Mason Bloomfield from his Barnet days, as well as Billy Clifford, Rakish Bingham and Dom Poleon from their time together at Ebbsfleet United.
Manager Spencer Day commented: “We welcome Wes Fonguck from Ebbsfleet for the rest of the season.
“An experienced 8/10/11 with over 100 National League appearances.”
“Will give us more options in an area we desperately need more competition.
“Massive thanks to everyone at Ebbsfleet, particularly Damien the CEO for supporting the transfer and was a pleasure to deal with. Without them, there was no chance we could have secured Wes.”
Fonguck has been allocated shirt number 10.
