Thomas Frank’s most horrible stat has Tottenham down in the relegation zone

0 1

One stat on Thomas Frank’s tenure at Tottenham shows that the club could have, and arguably should have, sacked him a long time ago.

Over the course of his relatively short stay at Spurs, the former Brentford boss has managed to accumulate several undesirable records.

As Spurs Web previously revealed, Frank has the worst points per game record of any permanent manager of any ‘big six’ side in Premier League history.

However, there is one even more appalling stat, which is probably the bigger reason for his eventual sacking.

Tottenham’s home record this season is beyond disastrous

One can argue that the ultimate reason for Frank’s failure at Spurs was his inability to deliver performances or wins at home.

Tottenham are in the relegation zone this season if only results at home are considered, with only Wolves having fewer points at their stadium this term than their Lilywhites.

Across Frank’s 13 home matches in the league, Spurs won just two, while drawing four and losing seven, accumulating just 10 points.

They managed just 16 goals out of those 13 matches, which perhaps shows just why the crowd at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been so disgruntled.

Spurs entertained at home last season despite their struggles

Tottenham’s struggles at home did not just start with Frank, with the Lilywhites also being poor in front of their fans last season under Ange Postecoglou.

However, the reason the atmosphere was not as toxic at the time was that the team was still playing attacking football and giving supporters something to get behind.

Under Postecoglou last season, Spurs only had the 15th-best record at home, but they still scored 35 goals in their 19 home matches.

In sharp contrast, there have been very few matches this season when Tottenham have actually looked like scoring from open play at N17, and the numbers bear that out.
