Aston Villa team news: Unai Emery names his starting line-up for Premier League game against Brighton

0 4

Manager Unai Emery has named his team for Aston Villa’s Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion this evening.

Villa are looking to bounce back from a disappointing performance at AFC Bournemouth on Saturday and from two consecutive home losses against Everton and Brentford in the Premier League.

Emery has elected to keep faith with striker Ollie Watkins and leave new signing Tammy Abraham on the bench. That means an unchanged front four for Villa at home tonight.

There’s a place on the bench for fellow signing Alysson for the first time along with Abraham and Leon Bailey as attacking options.

Matty Cash misses out with injury

Tyrone Mings gets the nod over Pau Torres at centre-back but there’s a change on the left, where Ian Maatsen comes in after being named as a substitute on Saturday.

But the big news in the Villa line-up is at right-back, where Matty Cash is not in the matchday squad after rumours of a hamstring injury circulated on Wednesday morning.

John Townley has confirmed that Cash is out injured, with Lamare Bogarde slotting in at right-back in his absence. It’s less than ideal, to say the very least, but it’s time for Villa to grasp the nettle.
