CBS Uses Tacky Graphic Evoking Famous Super Bowl Photo To Poke Patriots
The Seattle Seahawks finally got their revenge against the Patriots for their heartbreak in Super Bowl XLIX on Feb. 1 2015. After New England’s loss in Super Bowl LX on Sunday, CBS Sports published a playful graphic poking fun at the Patriots about their recent defeat.
One of the most memorable moments from Super Bowl XLIX was when Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman reached out to shake hands with Patriots quarterback Tom Brady as he took a knee to wrap up the game.
This time, however, CBS created a graphic featuring Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold taking a knee while Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez attempted to shake his hand.
Super Bowl LX featured far less drama than Super Bowl XLIX, as the Seahawks held the upper hand for most of the game. They kept the Patriots at bay, not letting them score until the fourth quarter. This was a stark contrast to 11 years ago, when Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler intercepted Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson late in the fourth quarter to clinch the game, 28-24.
New England may not have achieved the result it hoped for, but it had a remarkable season, transforming from a four-win team last season to reaching the final game this season.
