Woking vs Boreham Wood

Enterprise National League

Saturday 7th February

15:00 Kick-Off

The Cards return to the Laithwaite Community Stadium this weekend, hosting promotion-chasers Boreham Wood, the second play-off placed side Woking will face this week

Last time out, a tough test for Woking saw them travel to The New Lawn Stadium to face play-off hopefuls Forest Green Rovers. Despite having the early lead on 10 minutes through Sanderson, the hosts were able to level shortly after.

It was then Gbodé’s second goal in as many games that put the Cards ahead at the break, but three second-half goals from Forest Green saw Woking suffer defeat.

Returning to home turf this Saturday, Neal Ardley’s side will not only be looking to bounce back, but they will also be hoping to deny the Wood the league double, with the reverse fixture, played in September, seeing Woking fall to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Meadow Park.

Amidst weather conditions forcing postponements, only twice have the Cards played at home in 2026, but having emerged victorious on both occasions, Woking will look to extend their 100% home record this year.

Opposition Watch

Last time out, Boreham Wood suffered defeat on the road to Rochdale, a loss which saw the Dale move into the league’s top spot.

The clash in Greater Manchester ended in a 4-1 victory for the hosts, with Boreham Wood’s only goal in the game coming from a penalty kick, converted by Zak Brunt.

This became their fourth consecutive league defeat, so Luke Garrard’s side travel to Surrey in search of vital points to strengthen their chances of a top seven finish.

Currently occupying the fifth-place spot, Boreham Wood have collected a total of 56 points so far this season, with 17 wins out of a possible 29.

A strong league campaign for the side is complemented by National League Cup action, as the Wood progressed to the final four and are set to face Truro City in the semi-final later this month.

They do, however, take to the Laithwaite Community Stadium with a mixed away record in the league so far this season, which has seen them on the road on 14 occasions, with seven wins, four draws, and three losses.

One to Watch

Certainly a danger in front of goal, Matt Rush has hit the back of the net on 21 occasions so far this season, with three FA Cup and three National League Cup goals to complement his 15 in the league.

This is over double that of his nearest competitor within the club, with Zak Brunt’s converted penalty last time out seeing his tally increase to ten, half of which have come from the spot.

The spot-kick against Rochdale was awarded to Rush, indicative of his influence and perhaps difficulty to defend against in the box.

His 15 league goals so far this campaign see him sit second only to York City’s Ollie Pearce in the league’s top scorer rankings, but with pressure increasing from behind, he will certainly be looking to increase his tally with his upcoming involvement.

Woking will be aware of the threat he poses, as it was his 32nd-minute goal in the reverse fixture that claimed all three points for the Wood and, at the time, contributed to a period where he netted in five consecutive games for his side.
