Chris Sutton predicts four-year first in Man United vs Tottenham fixture

0 3

Chris Sutton expects one Tottenham man to continue his rich vein of form at Old Trafford as he predicts the result of the Man United clash.

After producing a tremendous fight back in the second-half against Manchester City to salvage a point at home last week, Tottenham now take on the other big side from Manchester.

The Red Devils have turned a corner since Michael Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim at the helm and come into the game riding high on confidence.

That is why, according to Opta’s Supercomputer, Man United are big favourites to win against Spurs, with the Lilywhites the clear underdogs going into the game.

Chris Sutton expects Man United to edge out Tottenham

Sutton does not think it will be a one-sided contest on Saturday afternoon, with the pundit expecting Dominic Solanke to continue his goalscoring streak at Old Trafford.

However, he expects Carrick’s men to edge out the North Londoners by one goal.

Suttong told BBC Sport: “Manchester United were slightly fortunate to beat Fulham last time out. A draw would have been about right. Still, it was big for Benjamin Sesko to get their winner and I have got to say he put it away very nicely, especially because he should have scored with a header earlier in the game.

Tottenham, meanwhile, produced a great comeback against Manchester City. I’ve talked about how much I rate Dominic Solanke and when he is up for Spurs, they are in a much better place as a team.

There is a danger of getting carried away with United under Michael Carrick, and I am expecting Solanke to score again here, but it still feels like United will find a way to win it.”

Prediction: Man United 2-1 Tottenham.

This would be the first time Man United have defeated Tottenham since 2022. Since then, Spurs have drawn three and won five against the Red Devils.

Why Spurs fans can be a little optimistic ahead of tomorrow’s clash

Thomas Frank has confirmed that Micky van de Ven is available for the Man United clash, while Djed Spence could also be ready to feature.

Tottenham will take some confidence from their last two performances against Eintracht Frankfurt and Man City.

Additionally, one cannot forget the fact that the Spurs players will have pleasant memories of Old Trafford, having won 3-0 at the venue last season, and the Lilywhites boast of a fabulous record against United over recent years.
