Tottenham rejected late loan approach from Juventus on transfer deadline day

0 1

Juventus plotted a move to poach a defender from Tottenham in the dying stages of the transfer window, but the Lilywhites stopped the deal.

Transfer deadline day was extremely uneventful from a Spurs perspective, with no first-team incomings or outgoings.

Despite plenty of rumours regarding possible exits in the final few days of the window, Brennan Johnson was the only player who was offloaded by the club in January.

There continued to be reports of a potential return to Serie A for Radu Dragusin, and one Italian club’s move for the Spurs centre-back has now come to light.

Tottenham shut the door on Radu Dragusin’s move to Juventus

TuttoJuve have now revealed that the Romanian was very much in Juve’s sights during the transfer window, with the Old Lady first enquiring about the player when AS Roma were ‘pressing hard’ for a deal a few weeks ago.

The report says that the Bianconeri’s idea was to ‘make a serious move at the end of the transfer window’ for Dragusin.

Juve had hoped to push through a loan deal which could have ‘satisfied Spurs in the final hours’ of the window.

However, with Tottenham having ‘no other options available’ on deadline day, they decided that the 24-year-old would stay put at the club.

Spurs made a deadline day approach for a Premier League centre-back

It turns out that Tottenham may have been preparing to offload Dragusin on deadline day.

It has been reported by TEAMtalk that Spurs were pushing to sign Axel Disasi from Chelsea in the dying stages of the transfer window after the centre-back was told he could exit Stamford Bridge.

However, the Frenchman chose to join West Ham United on loan instead, which may have forced Tottenham to pull the plug on Dragusin’s proposed return to Italy. The injury to Kevin Danso also probably didn’t help matters.
