Marco Sturm Provides Injury Updates On Two Key Bruins Forwards As Olympics Loom

The Boston Bruins are set to play their final game before the Olympic break on Wednesday, and some players won’t dress before.

Boston has multiple players going to the Olympics, including Pavel Zacha and Elias Lindholm, who are out injured. Bruins head coach Marco Sturm confirmed that neither would play on Wendesday but he’s hopeful the two can play in the Olympics.

“But again, they’re still not here, so that’s not good,” Sturm said after practice on Tuesday about Zacha and Lindholm. “That means they still have issues, but at this point I think it’s probably more up to (the national team) doctors than ours and their decision moving forward, hopefully both will be okay to go.”

Zacha hasn’t played since Jan. 29, when he got injured during the Bruins’ 6-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. This season, Zacha has skated in 54 games, recording 15 goals and 22 assists for 37 points.

Lindholm, meanwhile, hasn’t played since Jan. 27 due to an upper-body injury and is on injured reserve. He’s skated in 44 games, recording 11 goals and 26 assists for 37 points.

Although the Bruins will be without Zacha and Lindholm, Boston did get some good news as defenseman Jordan Harris was activated off injured reserve and recalled from his conditioning loan.

“He had great games in Providence, only had really good feedback,” Sturm said. “Today we saw him for the first time. He looks way better than 10 days ago when we saw him with us on the last road trip. Seems like the old Harry. He will be available (Wednesday) if we need it.”

Harris hasn’t played since Oct. 21 due to a fractured ankle. He’s skated in five games, recording one goal and one assist for two points.

The Bruins will play the Florida Panthers on the road on Wednesday. Boston enters play with a record of 32-20-4 and is holding onto the final wild card spot.
