Patriots Eliot Wolf Opens Up On Intimate Relationship With Seahawks General Manager
The New England Patriots defacto general manager, executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf, has had a long career in the NFL despite being only 43 years old.
He started as a scout for the Green Bay Packers in 2004 and worked all the way up to the director of football operations by the end of his 13-year tenure.
Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider is most famous for having spent 16 seasons with his current team. He is the second-longest tenured non-owner general manager in the league behind the New Orleans Saints’ Mickey Loomis.
But before arriving in rainy Seattle, Schneider, like Wolf, was working his way up the front office ladder in Green Bay.
Schneider and Wolf became good friends and continued their personal relationship even after they each earned promotions elsewhere.
Now the two will square off against one another on the world’s biggest stage in Super Bowl LX.
Wolf joined NFL Network’s “The Insiders” to speak about what it’s like to be pitted against an old friend in this game.
“Really not as much smack-talk,” Wolf said. “There’s been a lot of bro-talk and sentimental ‘Oh, isn’t this cool.’ He calls me kind of weepy — no, I’m just kidding.
“It’s been awesome, I’m looking forward to seeing him… (I have) a lot of respect for Seattle and the way they’ve been able to do things.”
This will be Schneider’s third Super Bowl with the team, and first since making back-to-back appearances in 2014 and 2015.
Wolf was a part of the 2011 Packers Super Bowl win, but will be making his Super Bowl debut as a general manager.
