Tottenham fans are very excited about the 18-year-old’s development, and a legendary defender has now given his seal of approval to the teenager.
Lothar Matthaus is astonished by Tottenham defender Luka Vuskovic
Although Lothar Matthaus played as a defensive midfielder for most of his career, he transformed into a world-class sweeper in his 30s, winning plaudits for the way he read the game.
The 64-year-old, who won 150 caps for West Germany and Germany combined, has now admitted that Vuskovic is doing things at 18 years of age that he could not do even in the latter stages of his career.
Matthaus said about the Tottenham youngster to Sky Sports Germany: “At the age of 18, he plays as if he had already played three World Cups.
“Even when I was 30, I didn’t see what he saw at 18. This player is so intelligent.”
Are Bayern Munich on a charm offensive towards Vuskovic?
Matthaus is considered one of Bayern Munich’s greatest ever players, and he is not the only person associated with the Bundesliga giants who has lavished praise on Vuskovic.
Ahead of his side’s clash against Hamburg, Vincent Kompany described Vuskovic as a ‘big talent’ and admitted that the teenager’s performances in the Bundesliga have impressed him greatly.
This may be perceived as a planned charm offensive from the Bavarian club, particularly given that Bayern have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Vuskovic, which was dismissed by Tottenham.
