How Mike Vrabel Discussed Patriots’ Super Bowl LX Uniform Choice
Mike Vrabel has a bit too much on his plate to analyze the New England Patriots’ uniform selection for Super Bowl LX.
The Patriots will wear their all-white gear when facing the Seattle Seahawks, who will don their navy uniforms at Levi’s Stadium on Feb. 8. Vrabel didn’t sound particularly invested when asked about the decision during Friday’s press conference, via 98.5 The Sports Hub.
“We had to pick blue or white, and we went with white,” Vrabel said. “Guess the blue would have been a good idea. As long as we’ve got a uniform on. I went through this with the uniform police in Tennessee. I try not to get too involved in it.”
As the designated home team, the Patriots had the first choice of which jerseys to wear. They went with their more customary road attire after going 9-0 away from Gillette Stadium, including an AFC Championship Game win over the Denver Broncos.
“We’re the home team. We get to choose,” Vrabel noted. “Guys like the white uniforms.”
A reporter told Vrabel that the Patriots are 5-0 in their all-white uniforms this season. The three-time Super Bowl champion will take that trend, even if his ensuing quip suggests he’s taking no stock in a fashion choice impacting the game’s outcome.
“There you go,” Vrabel responded. “Hope the Tooth Fairy comes tonight, too. We’ll be real excited.”
The Patriots wore white jerseys in each of their last four Super Bowl appearances, including a Super Bowl XLIX triumph over Seattle in 2015, but they paired them with navy blue pants each time. They’ll try a different look with Vrabel and Drake Maye commencing a new era for the proud franchise.
