Patriots Predicted To Add Seahawks Safety In Free Agency After Super Bowl Clash

New head coach Mike Vrabel built a Super Bowl-contending roster for the New England Patriots in just one offseason.

The team has very few contracts expiring after Vrabel’s first season, but there are many areas that can still be improved.

For instance, according to Sharp Analysis, the Patriots had the 15th-ranked secondary in the league.

Cornerbacks Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis did a lot of the heavy lifting while New England was forced to cycle through young, unproven safeties.

By the end of the year, rookie Craig Woodson and free agent signing Jaylinn Hawkins had settled into their roles patrolling the middle of the field. But defensive back depth remained an area of concern.

With Hawkins’ one-year contract set to expire after the Super Bowl, CBS Sports’ Zachary Pereles believes the Patriots could set their sights on poaching a player off a now-familiar roster, Seattle Seahawks safety Coby Bryant.

“New England made a huge jump this year thanks to some big spending on defense, and they keep that trend going by adding the versatile Bryant,” Pereles wrote.

Bryant is playing in the fourth and final year of his rookie contract after being selected in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The Cincinnati alum was a day-one starter for the Seahawks, tallying 70 tackles in 17 games played as a rookie.

He has come on as a ball hawk in the last two years, intercepting seven passes and forcing a pair of fumbles.

Nobody on Seattle’s defense has played more snaps than him.

He is set for a major payday after the Seahawks finish this run, and with his dynamic playmaking ability, he would fit in great on Vrabel’s multiple defense.
