Tottenham find out more about potential Champions League R16 opponents

0 0

Tottenham Hotspur have got a little more clarity on who they may be facing in the round of 16 stage of the Champions League after the draw for the knockout phase play-off was completed today.

Tottenham finished in fourth place in the league phase of the Champions League, which means that they secured direct passage to the round of 16.

It also means that Spurs will be playing the second leg of their round of 16 and quarterfinal ties at home.

Tottenham already knew they would be playing one of Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Galatasaray, or Club Brugge in the next round, and they have now got a little more clarity on who they may be facing.

Tottenham will be interested by Champions League play-off draw

The knockout playoff draw for the Champions League has now been completed, and it has been confirmed that Juventus will take on Galatasaray for a place in the final 16, while Atletico will play Club Brugge.

The two legs will be played on February 16 to 18 and February 23 to 25, with Juventus and Atletico set to have home advantage in the second leg since they were seeded.

Tottenham will now face the winner of one of those two ties in the round of 16 in March, while the winner of the other tie will go up against Liverpool.

When will Spurs find out their round of 16 opponents?

Tottenham will be hoping that at least one of Brugge or Gala can pull off an upset in the playoff and that they will be drawn against the minnows in the next round.

However, with Juve and Atletico both favourites to progress, Spurs will likely have a challenging round of 16 opponent.

The draw for the round of 16, quarterfinals and semifinals will take place on Friday, 27 February, while the two round of 16 ties will be played on March 10-11 and 17-18.
