Juventus confident as talks resume over McKennie’s contract extension
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juventus will soon resume talks to extend Weston McKennie’s contract, with both sides keen to reach an agreement.
Juventus are set to meet with McKennie in just a few days to resume talks over a new contract. The USMNT star has entered the last six months of his €3m deal at the Allianz Stadium.
Latest on McKennie’s contract extension at Juventus
McKennie’s long-term future in Turin has drawn significant attention in recent months. Some reports suggested that negotiations stalled due to the agent’s fee demands, fuelling talk of McKennie leaving for the MLS on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Such reports, however, were denied by the midfielder’s agent and his father. Furthermore, the latter recently wrote on X social media that “Wes is the happiest I have seen him in quite some time” and that “coach has definitely been the difference!”
McKennie a key Juventus player under Spalletti
McKennie’s versatility has made him a key player under Luciano Spalletti, with the American midfielder grabbing five goals and four assists in 19 appearances under the Tuscan tactician.
According to Gazzetta, both Juventus and McKennie are eager to reach an agreement over a new contract until 2028 or 2029, especially after the mutual development on the field in recent weeks.
The report claims Juventus are preparing to raise McKennie’s salary to €4m/€4.5m per season, with a new meeting between the two parties taking place once the January transfer window closes.
