Aston Villa FPL winners and losers from Gameweek 23: big hitters make a mark
Aston Villa picked up all three points at Newcastle United and banked a whole load more for fantasy football players all over the world.
Villa scored twice at St James’ Park, a boon to loyalist Fantasy Premier League managers in Gameweek 23. With a clean sheet thrown in for good measure, GW23 was one of the best so far for managers with plenty of Villa players in their teams.

Top Aston Villa FPL scorers in GW23
Villa’s top scorer in GW23 was Emi Buendía, who was magnificent at Newcastle and reaped the rewards with 11 FPL points, courtesy of a goal, 12 defensive contributions and a bonus point. Bosh!
Next up, we have goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez with some fine saves, a clean sheet and 10 points, followed by Morgan Rogers, Matty Cash and goalscorer Ollie Watkins with eight points apiece.
Rogers is still Villa’s only player with more than 100 points (111, to be precise) for the season overall, but Cash is now on 95 and Watkins has 91.

AVF FPL update GW23
A quick check of our AVF FPL league reveals that Gary James now has a 46-point leader over Rich Ludlow at the top, while Amber Barnard and Ahmed Elgharably have climbed into the top five.
James Brownrigg was the top scorer in GW23, moving up to 67th thanks to a 68-point week. Captaining Ollie Watkins doesn’t always work, but when it does work it can be a beautiful thing.
Lucy Smith is three points further adrift of Graeme Vincent at the bottom. They are now the only two teams in the league yet to break 1000 points. By this time next week, that number should be zero.
