Notley Previews Home Semi-Final Clash

0 0

Ellis Notley is looking for another ‘great’ support from the Hibee faithful this Saturday (31 January) as we host Glasgow City at Meadowbank.

The two rivals face off in the final four this weekend; seeking a spot in the Final of the Sky Sports Cup.

After reaching the final last season, Joelle Murray’s side will now look to secure the trophy for the eighth time – extending the Club’s competition record haul.

“It's an opportunity to reach a final. As a club, this is what we strive for,” Notley told Hibs TV.

“We strive to be playing the top teams and reaching finals every season and over the last few seasons we've reached a couple of finals and it's not gone our way.

“So this is a great opportunity for us to play a top team in Glasgow City, hopefully put in a performance and hopefully reach the final.”

Our opposition on Saturday have enjoyed a terrific campaign so far – reaching the last 16 of the UEFA Europa Cup and remaining unbeaten in the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League.

Hibs are one of just two teams to have taken points off City this season. Rangers earned a draw at the weekend against the unbeaten league leaders, while Hibs have held the Glasgow club to a tie twice this season – which Notley states gives the team confidence heading into the fixture.

“Glasgow City are a top team, they've got top players and they're a team in Scotland that have been at the top of the game for years. So we expect a hard game, we expect a tough opponent.

“It'll be a tough game and it does give us confidence knowing that we put performances in against them already this season, and we just look to do that again and hopefully we can put a performance in and get a result.”

The Hibernian support has been a source of great help for the team this season, and Notley hopes another terrific home crowd can turnout on Saturday to back the girls.

“The Hibs fans are great. They come week in, week out regardless of the time of year, the weather and it makes such a difference to us.

“We're so thankful that they turn up in their numbers to support us and the semi-final will be no different.

“We'll need every single fan and hopefully they'll be that extra push that we need, an extra player to really push us over the line.”
