Birmingham confuse me, have they found some kinda loophole acceptable to the EFL? Linked to the takeover?

I mean they don't just confuse me set against us but full stop in this League. Their cost base was £60-£65m in 2023-24 and though Income up that will also be up.

Their 3 Year Pre Tax Losses across 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 were £25mish, £25mish and £16mish. Ish accounts for 3 Year £66m-£66.5m Aggregate. Their Cost Base seemed to rise in League One unless the takeover contained some oddity(ies).

I don’t profess to know anything about accounting for losses, but they’re talking about moving on Kyogo who cost several million in the summer, got rid of Lyndon Dykes and lost about a million on that, amongst many other crap transfer dealings. I’ve even seen their own fans questioning it (though they’re not particularly unhappy about it!) on their forums.

Thinking they must be trying to ‘do a Bournemouth’ and get out of the EFL before they get penalised??

Moving on Kyogo at best gets a Loan Fee and Wages off the books, and cancelling Loans saves Wages but do Clubs get any Penalty clause or have to pay up front. Otoh it could actually crystalise Losses tbis season.

Dykes went to Charlton iirc and oddly was linked with Ipswich.

Shouldn't as the EFL get Forecast Annual Accounts by 30th June and actual accounts for last Season by 31st December.

It still holds this Season. The Football League game it quite seriously, Birmingham in 2018-19 for £9m overspend got Soft then Full Embargo, 7 Points for overspend, further 3 Points for trajectory 1 back for Cooperation.

Business Plan that stopped Fees and Loan Fees, contract Renewals difficult, second Charge for Breach of the Business Plan in 2020.

EFL go hard or have done

For a second offence, I’d personally like to see the EFL force the club to be dismantled, their EFL membership permanently revoked and them to start life back in the Midlands Pub League Division three. Having said that, I do dislike the club on a personal, irrational level, so I’m probably not the best person to be handing down sentences

I very much strongly dislike Birmingham too so they should go hard tbh.
Dunno, there isn't so much scope with EFL Rules. PL ones are full of holes and the EFL system is more real time.

Fwiw Leicester challenged the EFL on the March 2024 Embargo and didn't get it overturned.

The Chelsea style loopholes are literally adjusted out in the EFL, have been since 2021- the only grey area is Women's side.

Selling a Stadium, Training Ground, Hotel, Land or any other form of Tangible Fixed Asset is treated for FFP purposes as if it didn't happen.

You also get Embargoes if you breach in the EFL.
