Match Preview
Raith Rovers have a quick turnaround this week, as they travel to Lesser Hampden on Tuesday evening to take on Queen’s Park in the KDM Evolution Trophy, just three days after defeating the same side 4-1 at Stark’s Park in the Championship.
Rovers win on Saturday means they’re just one point outside the playoff spots, albeit having played more games than the two sides above them, while Sean Crighton’s men are now bottom of the table after Ross County’s win over Airdrie.
Both teams have won two games to reach this stage, with Rovers eliminating two League One clubs while the Spiders have dispensed with two teams from the fourth tier.
A hat-trick from Jai Rowe helped Rovers seal a 5-2 win over a young Hamilton Accies side in the second round, while a goal from Dylan Easton was all that separated themselves from Queen of the South in the last 16.
Goals from Josh Fowler and Seb Drozd eased Queen’s through 2-1 in an all Glasgow tie in the last 32 last month, while late goals from Fowler and Liam McLeish eventually saw off Forfar by two goals to nil in the last 16.
The two teams have met reasonably recently in the same stage of this competition back in 2023, when a fine finish from Faroese forward John Frederkisen sealed Rovers passage to the semi-finals.
Tuesday night’s match referee will be Sean Murdoch.
Head-To-Head Record:
Queen’s Park wins: 38
Raith Rovers wins: 56
Draws: 29
