Harry Kane and Toby Alderweireld talk about Tottenham live on air
Tottenham Hotspur fans will love to hear about a touching Spurs reunion during a Champions League clash in Belgium on Wednesday.
Bayern Munich travelled to Belgium to take on Union Saint-Gilloise in the Champions League, and it was Harry Kane who was the hero for the away side.
The striker scored both goals as the Bundesliga side emerged 2-0 winners despite Kim Min-jae being sent off on 63 minutes.
The Tottenham legend could have had a hat-trick, but he uncharacteristically failed to convert a penalty, firing his spotkick against the crossbar.
Harry Kane meets his former Tottenham teammate in Belgium
Toby Alderweireld, who hung up his boots back in the summer, was doing some punditry work, and he had the chance to interview his former Tottenham teammate after the game.
Kane and Alderweireld played together for six years at Spurs between 2015 and 2021, and were part of a formidable Tottenham side under Mauricio Pochettino.
The Bayern striker was delighted to see the 36-year-old after the game, and said to his former teammate (via Het Laatste Nieuws): “How are you, Toby? We haven’t spoken in a while, but I hope you and your family are doing well. Let’s see each other soon.”
Toby Alderweireld added: “We’ve shared so many wonderful moments together. When I hear my former Tottenham teammate, it’s always special.”
Alderweireld jokes about Kane’s work ethic
The former Belgian international saw firsthand at Spurs just how hard the England captain works in training.
Alderweireld referenced Kane’s work ethic and joked about what the 32-year-old would do at the training ground after his missed penalty on Wednesday.
The former Spurs centre-back added: “In the 2014/15 season, when I was still playing for Southampton for a year, Kane was called a ‘one-hit wonder.
“From then on, he’s scored at least 30 penalties every season. He’s a fantastic person, but also a true winner. After every training session, he’d take at least 15 penalties. (laughs) From now on, that will be 16, right? Because he missed one.”
