15 stats that show Wilson Odobert just had his best-ever game for Tottenham Hotspur

0 21

One individual display stood out amid Tottenham Hotspur’s much-needed Champions League response, and the stats do not lie about Wilson Odobert.

Thomas Frank’s side returned to winning ways on Tuesday evening in the UEFA Champions League after dispatching Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in their penultimate league phase game.

That victory has now seen Tottenham move into the automatic qualification spots, with a game to spare coming up next week against Eintracht Frankfurt.

The work, however, is far from over, as Spurs will need another victory to cement their top-eight spot and avoid the extra play-off games.

Wilson Odobert’s stats in Tottenham win vs Dortmund

Frank was a man under immense pressure coming into last night’s game, but he did manage to secure a much-needed victory to bring some feel-good factor back to N17.

Frank had limited options to call upon, given Tottenham’s injury crisis, but the players he put his faith in repaid him beautifully on the night.

Wilson Odobert was one such player who stood out for Tottenham, with his elite wing play on the right helping Spurs secure that crucial victory through two assists, while his underlying numbers showed a far more complete all-round performance.

Odobert’s two assists, defensive work and ball-carrying stood out as key factors in Tottenham’s control of the game.

The young Frenchman completed 5/7 dribbles, played two passes into the final third, created four chances, made two tackles and won 7/12 ground duels.

Spurs performance offers encouragement for Thomas Frank

The Tottenham players did not throw the towel in, but instead dug deep to play for their manager, and that will be encouraging for both the supporters and Thomas Frank.

There had been talk that the Dane could well be gone after the Dortmund game, but with the victory and the front-foot, attacking display, he has given himself some much-needed respite.

Odobert was not the only standout performer on the night, as Dominic Solanke, Cristian Romero, Xavi Simons, Pedro Porro, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Djed Spence all put in a much-needed shift, and now the challenge is building on performances of this level, which is often the more difficult next step.
