Predicted Tottenham XI vs Borussia Dortmund as Thomas Frank has just 11 senior players
Given Tottenham Hotspur’s injury crisis, Thomas Frank is set to have a selection headache ahead of Spurs’ Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund. We have now attempted to predict how the Dane could line up.
Thomas Frank is a man in desperate need of a victory, given the amount of pressure the Dane is under following recent results.
Reports have claimed that Frank’s time in the Tottenham dugout could be cut short, with Spurs weighing up a managerial change.
It is also understood that nothing drastic is set to happen regarding the Dane’s position, with Frank expected to take charge of the Dortmund game in the Champions League.
The Spurs boss has played down the media reports that he is facing internal pressure, instead claiming that his focus remains firmly on the match ahead.
This is a crucial clash for Tottenham, who are chasing an automatic qualification spot, and we have now attempted to predict Frank’s XI against Dortmund as the north London club looks to navigate their injury crisis.
Thomas Frank has already revealed that he only has 11 fit and available senior Tottenham players to call on against Dortmund.
Predicted Tottenham XI vs Borussia Dortmund
Goalkeeper – Guglielmo Vicario: We do not expect any changes on this front, as Frank will need his number one shot-stopper to put in a solid performance in front of the Tottenham faithful.
Right-back – Pedro Porro: The Spaniard has created the most chances among full-backs in the Premier League and remains vital to whatever Spurs look to do going forward, so we expect him to start on Tuesday night.
Centre-back – Cristian Romero: The Spurs captain acknowledged that Tottenham’s result against West Ham last weekend was a disaster, but he will be looking to lead them to a much-needed victory.
Centre-back – Kevin Danso: With Micky Van de Ven suspended after picking up too many yellow cards, Danso slots into the back line. But Spurs will have no senior centre-backs to call on from the bench.
Left-back – Djed Spence: Ben Davies was given the nod last time out against the Hammers but picked up a nasty injury, and that should see Spence come into the XI from the off.
Pivot midfielder – Archie Gray: The youngster also picked up a knock against West Ham but was spotted in training on Monday afternoon and is expected to start.
Pivot midfielder – Lucas Bergvall: Rodrigo Bentancur is out for three months, while Palhinha is injured after missing training and the West Ham clash. Meanwhile, Conor Gallagher is not available for the Champions League due to squad registration rules at this stage, and as such, Bergvall should start.
Attacking midfielder – Xavi Simons: The midfielder remains Spurs’ main creative source given the injury situation. He is not fully fit, but Simons has revealed that he is set to play despite carrying pain.
Right winger – Wilson Odobert: Tottenham are severely stretched in the wide areas, given injuries to Mohammed Kudus, the sale of Brennan Johnson and the absence of Dejan Kulusevski, so Odobert should start on the right.
Striker – Dominic Solanke: Mathys Tel was once again omitted from Spurs’ Champions League squad following Solanke’s return to fitness. As such, the Frenchman is not in contention, and that should see Solanke lead the line.
Left winger – Randal Kolo Muani: With Tel not in contention and Richarlison ruled out for seven weeks, Kolo Muani is set to feature from the left.
