Official Napoli updates on Politano and Rrahmani as injuries pile up before key games
Napoli have confirmed muscle injuries to Matteo Politano and Amir Rrahmani and according to Italian sources, the Partenopei duo will remain out of action for at least two weeks.
Napoli provided injury updates on Politano and Rrahmani on Monday morning.
The Italian winger and the Kosovar defender had suffered injuries during Saturday’s Serie A match against Sassuolo.
Official Napoli statement on Politano and Rrahmani
“Following the injuries they sustained in the match against Sassuolo, Matteo Politano and Amir Rrahmani underwent medical tests at Pineta Grande Hospital,” Napoli said in a statement.
“Politano has sustained a strain to the semimembranosus muscle in his right thigh. Rrahmani has sustained a strain to his left gluteus.
“Both players have already begun their rehabilitation programmes.”
Italian sources, including SOS Fanta and Sky Sport, claim that both players will surely miss the next two games against Copenhagen in the Champions League and Juventus in Serie A.
Napoli injuries pile up
It might take up to two weeks to see Rrahmani and Politano return to action, even if the Italian could even need a month to recover.
These latest injuries add to a long list of Napoli’s absentees as the Partenopei have been forced to cope without Billy Gilmour, Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne, Frank Zambo Anguissa and Alex Meret for several months.
Lukaku hasn’t yet made a single appearance this season, while De Bruyne has been out of action since October and won’t be available again until March.
