Lewis Gillie Joins Arbroath On Loan

Young Hibernian FC defender Lewis Gillie has joined Arbroath on loan for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign.

The 17-year-old will join up with the William Hill Championship side as part of Hibernian FC’s Cooperation Agreement with Arbroath – allowing seamless loan player movement between the clubs.

The versatile defender made his senior professional debut in January 2025, aged 16. He appeared off the bench against Clydebank in the Scottish Cup, as the Hibees ran out 3-0 winners at Easter Road Stadium.

Since then, Gillie has trained frequently with the First Team and was a prominent figure of the wee Hibees’ CAS Elite Youth League 2024/25 title winning team.

Gillie also represented Hibs U19s in Europe, featuring four times in the UEFA Youth League and finding the back of the net against FC 2 Korriku at Easter Road.

Lewis will join fellow Hibs teammate – Jacob MacIntyre – on loan at Arbroath, with the latter making 20 appearance and registering five goal contributions to date and helping Arbroath up to third in the Scottish Championship.

Upon the loan move, Hibernian FC Academy Director, Gareth Evans, commented: “This is a great opportunity for Lewis to really test himself at a competitive level.

“Lewis will get to experience playing regular senior Men’s football in a physically challenging and demanding league, which will really aid his development.

“Lewis has a bright future ahead of him, and we are looking forward to following his progress closely.”
