Loan halted: Man United bring back 19yo star after just nine senior outings
Manchester United have made another decisive call on the future of one of their young stars.
Goalkeeper Elyh Harrison was sent on a season-long loan to Shrewsbury Town last summer.
The EFL League Two club have now officially confirmed that United have recalled Harrison from his loan spell.
The 19-year-old featured nine times for Shrewsbury but kept only one clean sheet across all competitions.
Only six of those appearances came in the league, where Harrison conceded 13 goals before losing his starting position to Will Brook.
He made his final appearance for the club in the 6-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup last weekend.
The teenager clearly struggled in his loan stint but there is no doubt that he is highly talented.
Harrison joined United in 2022 from Stevenage and has featured regularly for the U18s and U21s.
He won the Denzil Haroun Reserve-Team Player of the Year award for the 2023-24 season after sensational performances for the academy.
The Red Devils will be looking to send Harrison on another loan so that he can continue his development with regular minutes.
The young shot-stopper will hope to turn things around with a stellar loan stint in the second half of the campaign.
His direct competitor Radek Vitek has been superb all season.
He has shone at Bristol City and could be promoted to the United first team next term.
Senne Lammens and Vitek are all set to compete for the number one shirt in the 2026-27 season.
