Ratcliffe and Glazer family visit Man Utd to support Carrick before Saturday's derby

0 1

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and one member of the Glazer family are at Manchester United’s training ground to support interim coach Michael Carrick.

According to The Guardian, the club were set to hold an executive committee meeting at a different location.

But they decided to move it to Carrington so they could speak to Carrick before Saturday’s clash with Manchester City

Ratcliffe’s INEOS own a minority stake in United and control the football operations, while the six Glazer siblings are the majority owners of the club.

At least one of Avram and Joel Glazer is said to be present at Carrington, along with the others members of the executive committee including Omar Berrada (the chief executive) and Roger Bell (the chief financial officer).

Carrick faces a difficult first test on Saturday as his side take on Premier League title contenders City at Old Trafford.

Pep Guardiola’s side haven’t been entirely convincing this campaign, but they thrashed  United 3-0 in the reverse fixture back in September.

Pep Guardiola’s side crushed Exeter City 10-1 in the FA Cup third round last weekend before beating Newcastle United 2-0 in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final on Tuesday.

Darren Fletcher was in charge for United’s previous two fixtures following Ruben Amorim’s departure.

They played out a 2-2 draw at Burnley before losing 2-1 against Brighton & Hove Albion to crash out of the FA Cup

Despite poor results, the Red Devils still sit seventh in the league.

But they could be firmly in the bottom half of the table if they lose the next two fixtures against City and Arsenal.
