Just like the Rossoneri, Ajax are also one of Zlatan’s former clubs, but his son Maximilian has played down any comparison with his father: ”I am my own person and player, and I want to write my own story. I feel good. I’m excited,” he said in his first interview with his new club.

”Nice that my father also played for Ajax. I am happy that I have the opportunity to continue developing myself here as well. I am here to do my own thing. And I am really looking forward to that.”

What has his father told him about Ajax?

”He said Ajax is a great club and Amsterdam is a great city,” Maxi replied.

“The fans are nice, and the league is good. Only good things. I think my father is happy for me. Ibrahimović is just a name. I am Maximilian. We are both very different.’

”I love the Ajax philosophy, the attacking way of playing. I think that suits me very well. I am very fast, and I like to dribble. And I love attacking,” continued Ibrahimovic Jr.

“This step is a great challenge. I will work extremely hard every day. Then we will see what happens. I want to be a good player for Ajax. To win and to improve. I work hard, and I like to win. I think I can entertain the fans well. I think they will enjoy seeing me.”

Ajax director Marijn Beuker said Maximilian Ibrahimović will initially play with the Ajax U23 before gradually moving into the first team in the second part of the campaign.

Maxi Ibrahimovic, 19, scored five goals and provided four assists in 17 appearances with Milan Futuro this season, playing in Italy’s fourth division, Serie D.

He had been part of the senior team that played in the Supercoppa Italiana in December, but didn’t make his first-team debut with the Rossoneri.
