Hanwell Town 1-1 Poole Town – Match Report

0 0

The Dolphins dropped points to relegation candidates Hanwell Town as it ended 1-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Joe Lea and Pat Suraci named an unnamed starting eleven from the 7-0 win over Plymouth Parkway the previous weekend.

The game got underway with Poole on the front foot right from the off as Shaquille Gwengwe went close to opening the scoring.

The deadlock was broken after just four minutes as Gwengwe was found superbly by Selim Saied to gift Poole a 1-0 lead within the first five minutes.

The first half continued with the dominant Dolphins in full control of this one and in search of a second.

Great work from Antonio Diaz and Selim Saied down the left flank created numerous half chances for Lea and Suraci’s side but they were unable to convert.

Gwengwe lifted a fantastic ball into the area and found Slade in space, but he was unable to get his shot away with Hanwell valiantly throwing their bodies in the way of the ball.

The first half came to a close with the Dolphins in a deserved 1-0 lead in this one.

The second 45 got underway with the hosts coming out with new life in the second half and putting the Dolphins under pressure from the very off.

Despite Hanwell growing in confidence, Poole still looked dangerous when venturing forward and Gwengwe had the ball in the back of the net for a second time but was denied by the linesman’s flag.

Selim Saied thought he had found a second for the Dolphins after being slotted through by Diaz, his effort trickled narrowly wide of the post.

Only a few minutes later and Hanwell did find the back of the net through Dwayne Duncan to draw it back to level terms on the 73rd minute.

With ten minutes to play, it was frantic end-to-end action with both sides looking like they were capable of finding a winner.

On the 90th minute, Gwengwe was brought down just outside of the penalty area, his free kick was tipped over the bar by Sam Beasant in the Hanwell goal.

With only seconds left, Samuel Ayo Faniyan was inches away from finding that decisive winner as his effort dragged just wide.

The referee’s whistle went with both sides taking a point from this one and Poole rueing their chances on Saturday afternoon against Hanwell.
