Maximilian Ibrahimovic is following in his father Zlatan’s footsteps by making the move from Milan to Ajax, on loan with option to buy.

Multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia confirm the agreement is all done and the clubs are exchanging documentation today.

It is going to be a loan with option to buy at the end of the season for €3.5m, while Milan will retain a percentage of the sell-on fee.

The 19-year-old is currently part of the Milan Futuro squad, having been in their youth academy since 2022.

He scored five goals with four assists in 16 Serie D appearances so far this season, as the Milan youth team was relegated from Serie C at the end of last term.

This means after 22 years there will be an Ibrahimovic in the Ajax jersey, as Zlatan wore their jersey from 2001 to 2004, when he first came to Serie A for Juventus.

Zlatan scored 48 goals and provided 17 assists for Ajax in 110 competitive appearances, but is now a senior advisor for Milan.
