Tottenham fall behind in Yan Diomande race as £78m bid arrives from Premier League rival
A Premier League club have overtaken Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Yan Diomande by making a big statement of intent.
Over the past few weeks, multiple outlets have claimed that Spurs have held talks over a January deal for Diomande, who has seen his stock rise dramatically this season.
The RB Leipzig winger is emerging as one of the most sought-after young attackers in the transfer window, and the race for his signature is heating up.
Just a few days ago, it was reported that Tottenham face competition from Man United, Bayern Munich and PSG for Diomande, but it has now been revealed that more clubs are in the race.
Premier League club make huge offer for Tottenham target Yan Diomande
According to a report in Africa Foot, four Premier League sides are now leading the race for Diomande.
Apart from Spurs and Man United, it is revealed that Liverpool and Man City are also keen on the teenager, and they are all ‘vying’ for his signature.
The Red Devils have moved ahead of the competition by submitting a €90m (£78m) offer to Leipzig for Diomande, who is currently away at the African Cup of Nations.
The Bundesliga club have given the winger permission to speak to United, who are now holding discussions with the youngster on personal terms.
The Manchester club are said to be willing to offer the Ivory Coast international a contract until 2030, worth €3.5m (£3m) per year.
Why Spurs may have an advantage over Man United over Diomande
It is worth remembering that United do not have a full-time manager in charge at the moment following Ruben Amorin’s sacking.
One doubts Diomande would want to join the Red Devils without knowing who is going to be coached by and how he fits into the system.
Some sources have claimed over recent days that Diomande sees Spurs as an ‘attractive destination’ in January, as his priority is to get regular game time.
