Celtics Respond To Patriots Stealing Their Popular Slogan
The New England Patriots are gearing up for their wild-card playoff matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. And ahead of this big game, the Pats decided to take a page out of the Boston Celtics‘ book by stealing one of their popular slogans.
During the regular season, New England shocked the world by emerging as one of the top teams in the league from seemingly out of nowhere. When all was said and done, the Patriots posted a 14-3 record that earned them the No. 2 seed in the AFC.
N.E. will force Los Angeles to make the lengthy trip from the West Coast to the East Coast for this game. While the Patriots and Chargers don’t have the same sort of rivalry as the C’s have with the Los Angeles Lakers, that didn’t stop them from using the Celtics’ popular “Beat L.A.” slogan, which the team was clearly happy to share for the week.
During the peak of the Celtics-Lakers rivalry in the 2000s, fans adopted the “Beat L.A.” slogan as a simple way to convey their thoughts on the rivalry. These two teams did not like each other, and at the end of the day, the goal was simple: Boston wanted to do whatever it could to take down Los Angeles.
Now, the Patriots will be adopting a similar mentality heading into this contest. The Chargers are a formidable opponent, but with Drake Maye under center, it feels like New England has a shot to win every time it takes the field.
Time will tell whether or not the Patriots are successful in their quest to “Beat L.A.” Kickoff for this important contest is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Sunday night, with the winner moving on to the divisional round of the playoffs.
