Fernandes returns: Predicted Man Utd XI vs Burnley as Fletcher drops £52m star

0 3

Manchester United will be aiming to return to winning ways in tonight’s Premier League clash against Burnley at Turf Moor.

The Red Devils have dropped points against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United recently, with frustrating draws (1-1).

It has contributed to Ruben Amorim’s managerial exit. Under-18s coach Darren Fletcher has been placed on temporary charge.

Ahead of the game, Fletcher has confirmed that Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount are back in the squad after respective injuries.

United could temporarily move to fourth in the table ahead of Liverpool on goal difference with a win if Chelsea drop points at Fulham tonight.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Predicted Line-up:

Senne Lammens has been ever-present in goal since making his Red Devils debut in October. He has kept two clean sheets thus far and will be eyeing another shutout tonight.

With Fletcher poised to play with a four-man backline, Leny Yoro is expected to make way for an additional attacker. The £52 million signing has fallen below the pecking order behind Ayden Heaven for a starting centre-back role over the past month.

Diogo Dalot, Ayden Heaven, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw will most likely form the backline. Heaven was at fault for Leeds’ opener with his slow reaction, but the former Arsenal graduate should get the nod, having been flawless prior to that.

Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte should line up in the centre of the park for Fletcher, as we anticipate Fernandes to return in his preferred number 10 role tonight. Ugarte had one of his best outings last weekend, winning 10 duels and making eight recoveries.

Fernandes and Mount are deemed fit to make the squad, but the latter could be restricted to a cameo role, given his injury proneness over recent years. Fernandes, on the other hand, has exceptional fitness levels. We are backing him to start from the off on his return.

Matheus Cunha should be a nailed-on starter on the left wing. Patrick Dorgu could get another run on the right wing with Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo away on international duty. The Dane started the 1-0 win over Newcastle United in the role and scored with a sumptuous volley.

Joshua Zirkzee had a lively cameo against Leeds, providing the assist for Cunha’s equaliser. The Dutchman was superb with his link-up play. Despite this, Benjamin Sesko could get the nod upfront. He is the main striker and has another opportunity to end his nine-game scoreless run.
